After the success of our first café scientifique, we are delighted to invite you to our second Café Scientifique in French.
Our astrophysicists Audrey and Joseph will talk about interaction in the Universe such as Aurora borealis, magnetic fields and tides, but also what happens when galaxies swallow one another, and talk about supermassive black holes.
Join us for this opportunity to discover or rediscover the wonder of our skies, and learn some French in a relaxed atmosphere. All welcome in the great Smoke and Mirrors.
- A presentation by an astrophysicist and teacher
- Date: Tuesday 5th June
- Time: 7.30pm
- Venue: Smoke and Mirrors next to the Hippodrome
- Cost: Free for all. Please come early as seats are allocated on a first come first served basis.
In the first part of our introduction to astrophysics we reviewed the different kind of celestial bodies occupying the universe. This second part will be dedicated to explain how these different bodies, including planets, stars, galaxies and galaxy clusters, can interact with one another. We will talk especially about tidal forces, polar auroras, cataclysmic variable stars, supermassive blackholes and galaxy mergers.
