Julien, French teacher with Alliance Française de Bristol is going to present a variety of French cheeses with some wine to accompany the cheeses, of course.
Did you know that there are more than 350 cheeses in France?

You can find different cheeses all over France as the map above shows you.
Here is a small number which you may be able to buy in England:
Epoisses: comes from the village called Epoisses in Burgundy. It is made from cow’s milk ( lait de vache) and is a soft cheese ( fromage à pâte molle).
La fourme d’Ambert: comes from Auvergne, this cheese dates back to Roman times. It is also made from cow’s milk ( lait de vache), it is a blue cheese ( un fromage à pâte bleue).
Le livarot: comes from the village called Livarot in Normandy, also made from cow’s milk ( lait de vache). It is a soft cheese ( fromage à pâte molle) but with a pungent taste (un goût corsé).
Le cantal: comes from the area called Cantal in Auvergne. It is also made from cow’s milk ( lait de vache) but is a hard cheese ( fromage à pâte dure).
Le chèvre: you can find different kinds of chèvres from Corsica to the Cévennes and up to the Poitou. These cheeses are made from goat’s cheese ( fromage de chèvre), they can be soft or hard, creamy ( crémeux)  or dry ( sec).

Julien is going to talk about the different kinds of textures ( pâtes ) and will explain how to eat the cheeses and with which wines.
